SIDC Appoints Sharifatul Hanizah Said Ali as CEO

The Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), the training and development arm of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), has appointed Sharifatul Hanizah Said Ali as its Chief Executive Officer.
Sharifatul Hanizah will be leading SIDC’s professional development initiatives at the forefront of the capital market learning and development space, in support of national development objectives to raise the standard of market participants and grow the Malaysian capital market.
A financial services industry professional with more than three decades of experience, Sharifatul Hanizah began her career in 1998 with a bank-backed broking house, subsequently joining Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) in 1991 where she assumed several leadership roles before moving on to helm RHB Asset Management Sdn Bhd in 2007. She was made Managing Director of RHB Investment Management Sdn Bhd in 2008, a position she held until July 2012. Under her six-year leadership, assets under management (AUM) grew from RM4 billion to RM16 billion.
Prior to joining SIDC, Sharifatul Hanizah was Chief Executive Officer of Muamalat Invest, where she successfully led a twenty-fold increase in AUM from RM120 million to RM3 billion during her four-year tenure. Sharifatul Hanizah brings to her current position ample board experience, having served on the boards of exchange-listed and private companies as a Nominee Director for PNB and RHB.
Sharifatul Hanizah is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (F Fin) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), with extensive and diverse experience in the fields of investment analysis, portfolio management, equity trading and unit trust. In addition to being an SIDC faculty member for the SC’s Capital Market Director Programme, Sharifatul Hanizah is also a moderator and panel assessor for the Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA), a body supported by both Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the SC.
SIDC is a leading learning and development solutions provider for capital market industry participants in Malaysia and the growth and emerging markets. Catering to market professionals, regulators and company directors, it supports the regulatory functions of the SC by setting competency standards for the capital market industry through licensing examinations and continuing education initiatives for intermediaries, as well as by delivering capacity building programmes for regulators and investor education programmes to cultivate smart investors. SIDC also contributes to capital market talent pipeline development by conducting graduate training programmes to widen the entry-level talent pool and meet industry demand for competent professionals.
