Changing Capital Markets Landscape

In order to succeed in this highly competitive and highly evolving business environment, organisations must have a successful framework in managing change. In this half-day programme, we will examine what are the drivers of change in the capital market, how these drivers are transforming the capital market landscape and the challenges and opportunities they bring. 

Technological has facilitated and transformed how capital market intermediaries operate and interacts with it clients and it will continue to be an important driver of change. Among the areas of discussions include Fintech, threat of Cyber Security and regulations compliance. 

We will also discuss how organisations are affected by the changing landscape and more importantly, as a member of the Board, your role in helping organisations in responding to these challenges.

    By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

    •    identify the drivers of change, its challenges and opportunities within the capital market; and 
    •    discuss the impact on these drivers of change on the organisations and how the Board of Directors can response to these changes 
     
    The Speaker
    Nik-Hasyudeen.png Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff
    Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff is the founder of Inovastra Capital Sdn. Bhd., a company providing advisory services in leadership, governance and strategy and investing in startups and high growth enterprises. He is also a board member of Cagamas Berhad, a Fellow at Putra Business School and a member of the Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee set up by Bank Negara Malaysia.

    Nik was the Executive Director in charge of Market and Corporate Supervision at the Securities Commission Malaysia and the former Executive Chairman of the Audit Oversight Board. Nik was also member of Bursa Malaysia Listing Committee, a former board member and chairman of audit committee of Danajamin Nasional Berhad and served on the Operational Review Panel of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

    As a FCPA of CPA Australia, Nik was very involved with the accountancy profession in Malaysia and the region. He was a former President of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, former Vice-President of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants and served on the Executive and Strategy committees of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants. He was also the chairman of the Committee to Strengthen the Accountancy Profession which recommended measures to reform the Malaysian accountancy profession.

    9.00am Drivers of Changes, Challenges and Opportunities
    The capital market operates in an ecosystem which evolves based on drivers which originate domestically as well from abroad. The changes in the marketplace would have strategic impacts on capital market players. What are the drivers of change and which elements of organisations would be impacted by them would be discussed.
    10.30am Coffee/Tea Break
    10.45am The Changing Landscape and Conversation in Boardrooms
    How would members of the boards have the assurance that the organisations under their care are tracking what are changing in the marketplace and understand their implications?  The expected actions premised on the role of board and management would be discussed.
    12.30pm Networking Lunch and End of Programme
