Risk Culture is a key component of doing business in a responsible way. In this workshop we will examine cases where business was not conducted in a Responsible Way and the outcomes on the organisation from a financial, legal and operational perspective.
The workshop will focus on the importance of Responsible Business Practices as a way of maximising company performance and shareholder wealth. Importantly we will discuss the Regulatory requirements in terms of doing business in Responsible Way.
We will define and identify responsible business practice with a focus on the control environment and culture. The Responsible Business Practices Methodology has four components:
- Board Strategic Risk Assessment
- Control Design Maturity Assessment
- Culture and Risk Survey
- Special Site Reviews
The session will examine actual cases where through the implementation of the Responsible Business Practices methodology organisations have been able to gain an informed understanding of the organisations response to critical risks across the business and provide the basis for opportunities for improvement.
During the workshop we will demonstrate with workshop attendees how the Responsible Business Practice workshops are conducted using anonymous voting. This will give the workshop attendees a first-hand experience of the effectiveness of the workshops and the dynamic that develops as the workshops proceed. An example of the reporting outcomes will also be provided.
The methodology can be applied using all phases or selected phases based upon the specific needs of the organisation. The methodology has been applied with incredible success in identifying control weaknesses, financial loss and fraud and corruption. Importantly it can be applied to any specific area of business risk.
The session will be facilitated by two partners from KordaMentha Robert Cockerell and Stephen Helberg. Stephen Helberg was the former Executive General Manager Audit for Leighton Holdings and Rio Tinto.
