Fares Zahir
CEO, Xeraya Capital Sdn Bhd
Fares Zahir was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Xeraya Capital Sdn Bhd in January 2012, He has around 30 years of experience in the field of investment in public and private equities.
Fares co-founded Xeraya and set up Xeraya Capital. As CEO of Xeraya, Fares led the company to achieve a number of milestones since its inception. It has a number of portfolio companies under its stable which are involved in various exciting technologies. Xeraya has also already made three successful investment exits and four other portfolio companies are listed on NASDAQ. It executed the world’s first cross-border shariah-compliant venture deal in 2015, and have done several more since then.
Among other position Fares served is as a board member of the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) and as an independent board member of the Malaysian Bio Economy Development Corporation (formerly known as Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation). In addition, he has also served on the board of investee companies in the US, Germany and in Malaysia.
Fares holds a Bachelor of Economics degree in Actuarial Studies from Macquarie University in Australia and a Master of Applied Science in Operations Research from University Technology Sydney. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) of North America.
