Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), the learning and development arm of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), launched its Capital Market Competency Management System (CMS), an innovative online industry-wide utility platform that centralises the Industry Competency Framework (ICF), assessment and development activities on a common hub.
The CMS, launched by SC Chairman Datuk Syed Zaid Albar, is an online solution that facilitates continuous professional development of the capital market industry through assessment of competencies as prescribed by the ICF and the identification of specific learning and development interventions.
In 2017, SIDC rolled out the ICF, the first comprehensive capital market competency framework in Malaysia comprising 58 competency titles and covering 105 job roles across the main regulated activities. Based on the ICF, the CMS empowers individuals and/or corporations to assess and identify their own or their employees’ existing competency levels and development areas.
Set to be the game changer for capacity building and professional development of the Malaysian capital market, the CMS will feature the ICF repository, a SelfAssessment Tool, and a personalised development guide (the Development Advisor) based on the individual’s self-assessment report that includes suggested training courses as well as self-directed learning elements.
SIDC CEO, Sharifatul Hanizah Said Ali said, “CMS is a disruption tool which can help overcome the insurmountable challenges and pave the map for the unknowns. Not only the future employees will be able to get themselves ready for the market, but culture of lifelong learning is ingrained in the mindset of existing employees.”
She also encouraged industry players to support and participate in this important endeavour together, to achieve the common and shared goals of producing future-ready capital market professionals.
The CMS is designed to benefit Malaysian capital market employees, corporate users, training providers and just about anyone aspiring to have a career in the capital market.
