OVERVIEW

Starting with the 21st UN-Climate Change Conference’s (COP21) Paris Agreement in 2015 and continued at the 26th UN-Climate Change Conference (COP26), there is a clarion call for global action to limit global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.  Malaysia is committed to be a carbon-neutral country in 2050. One of the initiatives towards the journey is its plans to set up a domestic emissions trading scheme and voluntary carbon market focusing on forestry and land use.

Following the launch of the Securities Commission’s Capital Market Masterplan 3 (CMP3), one of the strategic priorities is aimed at facilitating industries and businesses to transition to low carbon activities, which will enhance their relevance and competitiveness in the global market.
