We are pleased to announce that the Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). The MoU was signed on 24 February 2021.
The MoU signals the intent between both parties to enter into a strategic partnership that is centered on driving professional development and to ensure a sustainable supply of quality talent to fulfil increasing industry demands in the Malaysian capital market.
USIM was established in 1998 as an emerging Islamic university which is fully owned and funded by the Malaysian Government. Being the 12th public institution of higher learning, it aims to spearhead knowledge and be the global reference centre for Islamic Science.
The collaboration will involve efforts between both parties on promoting academic co-operation in the following areas:
- Facilitating the conduct of the SC Licensing Examination;
- Organising symposia, conferences, short courses and meetings on capital markets
- Exchanging information pertaining to developments in teaching, training and student development
- Other areas of cooperation as agreed by both parties relating to capital market qualifications, standards and assessments.
In addition, the collaboration will seek to explore the possible inclusion of SIDC’s programmes into USIM’s graduate employability and professional certification programmes under the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).
We are enthusiastic that this partnership will help advance mutual objectives for learning and development and open up further opportunities for collaboration and understanding between USIM and SIDC.
Please look forward to further developments and updates on our initiatives in the near future.
